Ok so i just bought  a house on friday....its 2 story w/ an unfinished basement. i plan on makin the basement mine lol...for all my computer crap that the woman doesnt want in the rest of the house, and also turning it into a media room...currently saving for one of the nice 52in plasmas =)

Anyways i was wondering if anyone has tried the 802.11n wifi setup......i currently have 802.11g,and i'd rather run cat5 everyhwere but some of the rooms are just about impossible to get a wire down the wall...and of course since my girl is an interior designer...seeing a cable is just not going to happen, so i was thinkin of purchasin some equipment to get the whole house wireless....

let me know..

oh and

Yea I got the Linksys WRT300N when it first came out.  It replaced my WRT54GX w/SRX.  There is noticeable difference in my neighbor's house. ;) The SRX had no cold spots in my house(all 3 levels-about 4000sq ft).  The N allowed me surf in my neighbor's house(2 houses down).  But I had a cheaper G model(prior to SRX) that had cold spots in the house so I guess it would depend on the model and make.  But with the Linksys WRT300N, you can't go wrong,especially if you are in the basement.  Just make sure you enable your encryption security because it's default is off.

check out the us robotics ....  and dammit they moved it to the buisness class. this thing will let you pull 125 mbps and no cold spots.

...mac address filtering...

my big blue E cuts right through wep and wap..... silly thingy.
yea though i walk through the valley of death i shall fear no evil for i tread upon the bones of its forefathers

keep an EYE on compusa, month or two ago they had the 125max g router on sale for 20 bucks after rebates (60-40=20)... very nice setup too.   don't forget that if you take the base boards off and use a router to carve a chanel into it, you can run cat5, speaker wire or anything in the groove.   Takes time but Cat 5 is the best way sometimes.

You can place network jacks that are right next to the baseboards so you don't see the cables.  or run them up the walls once you get them between the right studs then run it up.
