what if i made it

Video Card ( Nvidia Geforce 7300GS 256MB w/DVI + TV Out Video )

for $547

I can't say much regarding WoW, or the low end 7xxx cards. I imagine that it's better than getting 6xxx. What quality of video do you want to have? You're obviously in the low-mid range. Is it sufficient that it simply works? Or do you want to enjoy a decent amount of definition and effects?

I have a 6600 and I can run FEAR, Oblivion, HL2, etc...

Don't pull a desktop configuration quite yet....

AMD is about to seriously slash the prices on Athlon64 and X2 processors next week.  The pricing plan I saw this afternoon shows something on the order of 40-60% price cuts on many of the X2 processors (barring the really high-end ones of course), but they've gotta do _something_ with Intel's new core and pricing released (earlier this week I think...maybe late last).  With the new Intel chips' performance numbers, you could conceivably get better performance for your dollar by going with Intel, rather than AMD....  Just a thought.

If you're deadset on AMD, wait till after the 24th, then price out ur system.  You'll be glad u did, I assure u.

I absolutely agree. I've seen the price list also and there will be a huge drop in prices. Regardless of whether the Intel chips meet expectations (which are high), both AMD and Intel CPUs will be great bargains in the next week or two.

One example of a price shift is the X2 3800+ going from $277 to $149. So the online price of $297 will drop to something like $175 or less. I am hoping the X2 4200+ or even the 4400+ will drop below $200, or close to it.

SK_CROW

Yup, the prices are dropping already!  BUY! BUY! BUY! :D

FourScience

I'm deciding between the X2 3800+ for $169 and the X2 4200+ for $199 at NewEgg. Difference is 2.0GHz vs 2.2GHz stock speeds. I'm sure both OC just fine...

dont go to overboard, besides pushing these through the market. pentium is unloading too....why, i would like to say amd.

amd is gone insane with the quad core, dragging invidia along with it, i am unsure the specs, but when patrick and i reviewed it seems something along the lines of a dual chip quad core with a dual sli nvidia card ..... insanity. beautiful blissful insanity. remember to save.

and by god i have 3 machines waiting for the damn price drop already....

Yeah, with an already aging 939 platform (which I only switched to 6 months ago), I was not about to spend $200+. I spent $169 on the X2 3800+ so I had $34 to blow on another Zalman for my video card.

19.99 amd pc3200 64x chip as of yesterday. 754 pin though...
