If you haven't seen them or heard of it yet, the laser mice are really nice.  I don't know if I would recomend tossing out a perectly good optical mouse to get one, but if you are needeing to replace your current mouse or looking to go wireless, consider the Logitech MX1000 Laser.  It has the normal right left buttons PLUS 7 more programable buttons/actions.  I got mine at Newegg for $70, rechargable and none of the wireless delay, you may have noticed on wireless mice/keyboards in the past.

that mouse isnt bad but I just got some recent specs on the it compared to the new microsoft sets that just came out and found that logitech missed out on tracking by not adding the magnifier to filter the laser.  All though I have heard that the logitech is a great mouse.  Their is rumors that microsoft has beat diamondback for tracking with the their new series of mice but I havent seen anything on the web to prove it.

microsoft also has the smooth scrolling  scroll wheel.  which feels great, a nice change to the clicky methond of old.

The MX1000 isn't the newest latest and greatest, just what I picked up and I liked it.

Also up the alley of the Logitech MX series, is the 510 and 518. I bought 2 510's, one blue for myself and one red for my friend. I swear by them for 2 reasons: they have the performance of a gaming-grade Logitech and they cost much less than others in their class. You can grab one for $15 after rebate and shipping from CompUSA: http://slickdeals.net/#p6506

The 510 usually costs $30 or less anyway at e-tailers. The 518 is a slight upgrade offering hardware-supported sensitivity switching. That is, it will let you switch between 2 levels of sensitivity on the fly, something I finally see the need for in BF2 (scoped vs unscoped play). That mouse can be found for $40 on a good deal.

As for Muff's recommendation, the MX1000 has little if any edge over them in performance, and it's wireless speeds match the USB speeds so it really is a wireless mouse without the latency. So for the price and wireless feature it's a similar "best buy" as the 510/518. If I bought a new mouse right now I'd get a 510 for $15 and spend another $20 on a good mousing surface like the Func 1030. You're going to see newer mice come out from all of the big 3 (Logitech, Microsoft, Razor), but once you get a 510/518/1000MX, you are not going to gain very much in performance, and that's coming from a tweak bandit.
