Hey, I have good news. I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico!
Hah, I really did. Switching from an 87 Accord to a 2002 Ford Focus was costing me a jump from $400 for 6 months to $1400 ($2800 annual). For a 23 yr old single male with no at fault accidents in over 3 yrs that really sucked, so I shopped around. Lowest rate I found was over $900 for 6 months, until I checked with Geico and got under $700 for even better coverage.
I think it's funny that Geico has been advertising a lot here in CT that we are the richest state, saying, "Please, keep Connecticut wealthy. Save on car insurance by switching to Geico." They just show a picture of a yacht on the high seas the whole time, and poor guys like me living in an apartment with gangs up the street can only snicker.
I wonder though... what does everyone else have for insurance premiums, and not just for cars. I've been considering renter's insurance as well.
insurance...what is this insurance thing you speak of?
my car insurance is right under $100 a month. 1989 Chevy Z24.
Quotemy car insurance is right under $100 a month. 1989 Chevy Z24.
Nice car, my future brother-in-law still drives his and it's close to that year.
I'm even happier that GEICO turned around and only charged me $644/6 months ($694 original quote). Yeah!
Fudd you are amazing.

LOL!! Racing your mom does not count!! Find someone who KNOWS how to drive and try it again....
HAHAHAHA!!! I love bashing on his car....always puts a smile on my face....
Anyway, lets see here. My premium (also through geico :D ) is just under $650/6mo. This includes full coverage on my '01 Grand Prix GT and 4x Required Minimum coverage PL&PD on my wife's '91 LeBaron.
Luv ya Nightbane!!
Blitz
yeah sure. let me get done with the sumbitch. ill fuck that GP up.
i have a minivan so Fc00k insurance :P
lol Nationwide was cheaper for me for some reason.
for full coverage on my 2004 kia spectra ls they wanted 289 a month/6 months and nationwide only charges me 192 a month/6 month and that includes my renters insurance. Me thinks gieco sucks. Rock on Nationwide.
QuoteMe thinks gieco sucks. Rock on Nationwide.
Yeah but we got the gecko. He will lizard-strike all who oppose the GEICO.
nah that gecko is a Panzy with a capitol P.
of course I guess it could be worse if you could have that stupid ass duck.
I have GEICO and full coverage on one(2005 Kia Optima) and PLPD on the other (1993 Merc Cougar) it is $109 month.
see the problem with me is age and the fact that in Kentucky when dealing with insurance companies if you have had an accident in the last five years whether it was your fault or not you pay a pentalty for it.
in the fall of 2001 I was last car in the crash to get rear ended in a four car pile up. Which sucks because I was sitting still at a stoplight as were the other cars be behind and some dumb fuck that was lighting up a joint and not paying attention slamed in to the 2nd car behind me and they slid in to the person infront of them and they slid into me. The bastards. To this day Im still paying for it because of this not to mention they had insurance through safe auto which has yet to pay me for damages. Even though I dont have the car anymore.

Yeah that really blows a nut! How is your age hurting you though, you're not under 25 are you?
In general, under 25 is a bad factor, as is being unmarried or male even. Usually places only ask about accidents in the last 36 months, but GEICO actually asked about the last 60, so I included an at-fault but it was still the cheapest for me. I think they have much higher premiums for recent accidents but only slight boosts in cost for older ones, which makes sense.
I'm 23, male, and unmarried so I've got all of those factors working against me. In another 2 yrs I'll be married, 25, and employed full-time so insurance won't be such an issue.
That really bites that you get tacked with not-at-fault accident surcharges. Companies that do that should be in for a class-action lawsuit.
yup especially since I didnt even file a claim with my insurance niether did other people in the accident because they had total liability. Progressive was the worst thought they wanted over 300.
similarly im 22, single male, with one no-fault accident in 2001. Luckly by the time im 25 I will have no accident on my insurance and will likely be married as well. I all ready work a full time job and have for over 4 years now so that helps some.
Quoteim 22, single male
Interesting, here I was thinking you to be middle aged.
...unless you're counting in Sesame Street years...
cookie that shit they tell you is all a lie...ecept being married, which should make the insurance go up...(your driving mad/distracted/or autopilot cause you no longer have a brain.)
always tell em you have an anti theft device, and airbags...that drops it by 10 percent.
and wtf is middle aged you whippersnapper.
Quotealways tell em you have an anti theft device, and airbags...that drops it by 10 percent.
Anti theft helps with comprehensive coverage, and airbags/ABS/etc. helps with medical coverage. So if you don't have one or the other it won't make a difference, but it gives you a discount otherwise.
I put in that I have a chip in my key and they gave me like $3, woopdy doo. Somebody can't start my car without a key programmed to activate it. Airbags are a given, but side impact airbags are a bonus. ABS should make a difference too.
yeah those didnt even make a dent in because the difference as ten bucks even though I have all those features factory installed.
Oh, darn I thought this thread might have been about bashing cavaliers or other front wheel drive cars.... like my wifes optima, ha... I long awaited the insurance drop promised when I turned 25, but it wasn't very impressive, untill now. guess it is nullified if you have any incidents on your record in the enforcable past. but looking good now.
one word for you muffy...

ask an attorney
Yea, I know that, but it can only be used once-been x# years since, and must be your only offense. I have no worries about anything here.
