Just curious, and if you said "Something else: post what it is.
i dont have shite on, but when i run into something, i scan with
spyware doctor...jesus they came from nowhere and are up on the catchem and delete em...
i then will run a panda scan to catch the big big boys
then i will run avg to catch the java trojans
then i do adawre se to get rid of the file folders
then i run crap cleaner, to get rid of all the dead ends and broken registry shite..
i also keep pillbox killbox to delete those really pesky cant get rid of thingies, however when you do this it usually breaks the file its attached to.
right now i have a virus that resides in my windows media player, when i press play on movie music or anything..., i contract imediately 72 to 88 virus's of the nasty sort. just havent had time to disect this one..
Norton corporate edition.
heh, nortons corp edt let me down more than once, the above rutine caught . vx2,cws.yexe, smitfraudc, and the rest of the bundle and nortons said it was all clear.
A true geek doesn't need antivirus! He can diagnose illnesses in his computer and prescribe appropriate treatments on his own! Hah!
Really, I put a condom on my NIC and that's enough. Granted, I don't have any stupid friends sending me weird stuff. Not using Outlook for email or IE for web helps.
not using IE or other microsoft tools for web things helps dramaticly with the spyware crap, and moderately with the AV, you should always have something installed to monitor (non game time) and scan at least weekly.
Having friends that don't email you virus' helps too, but not having friend to send you the virus doens't count. :D lol
