Do you plan to use this on battery much?  If so, I would really, REALLY suggest going with a Pentium M instead of the P4 - that 3.2 will drain your battery in under an hour playing games, not to mention the 6800 U.  Now, if you are going to be just taking the notebook back and forth from work, go for it!  That should be a sweet little machine.

The times I'm running off of battery I probably won't be playing games. When gaming I will most likely be near a power source of some such.

seems like a rather costly laptop.
why do you want to go with a laptop?  Mobility? To just be trendy?  will you actualy be playing games on it? cuz for the money you going to spend on that laptop you could have a dual OPTERON machine ....  Think about it

I think that is a bad ass laptop, but your pay'n for a lot of flash.  If you need a pc to do work on at work or anywhere, you dont need a flashy thing like that.  but if you need a protable gaming machine... well, I guess you pay for convience.

Here is the deal, as a gift, I am going to recieve a laptop. I get to pick it myself and have a $3000.00 budget. That's why I'm going that route. the money is specifically for a laptop. I looked at dell, but I get a much more powerful machine through alienware.

Dell's XPS Gen2 uses a Pent.M so it it is lighter and will have a longer batter life.  The performance would be the same if not better based on Tom's hardware comparison testing.  I have one and it has a battery life of 3 hours with normal use versus only 1 hour for the alienware due to the cpu.

Tom's Hardware (http://www.tomshardware.com/mobile/20050815/dell_inspiron_xps-gen2-04.html)

Look for 40% discount here (http://www.notebookreview.com/)

if you the better performance of AMD 64 then go with the turion 64 is smacks the p4m around like a red headed step child.  lol.  Oh and with the 12 cell battery you get 5.5 to 6 hours.  but since you are not concerned with batter life go for it.

Check this  (http://ecomm.dell.com/dellstore/basket.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&itemtype=CFG&~tab=1) one out!  ;)

It only has 35% off...but if you want to wait, the 40% off usually comes back.

Dell printers rock( and would rock harder if they weren't lexmark), great quality, cheap toner refills, and my wifes Hottie cousin works for lexmark in Louisville and gets me free toner for my dell laser printer.  Life just got good.

but all kidding aside, we have a cn5100 color laser networked 35 page/min b/w and ,25 Page/min color laser printer at work-Rocks! I have the 1700 personal black and white 25p/min not too bad and if I had to buy em, fairly cheap toner.  we used to have the cn3100 color laser, but it was only 5 page/min color and 25 page/min b/w-shitty- so we sold it to a client after printing like 500 pages.

if you compare the printers, dell rocks hp on a cost benefit anyalisis every time.  same print speed cheaper toner refills and half the cost on most every printer.

took me some time to get over the fact that I had a lexmark... I cringe everytime someone mentions that my printer is a lexmark,,,  yuck.

well, unfortunatly, hottie cousin in-law is married.. but to an asshole...  I am not exactly sure what she does exactly, she just told me free toner and I stared at breasts and heard free toner.... I really lost track of things about the breasts and free something she said.

I will try to find out for ya...

yea, I have one of the x1150's myself. It works pretty good for me. I just need to buy more ink. it's almost cheaper to buy a whole new printer though.

Yup I think thats why Dell is offering free printers...they make more off the residual purchases of the Ink replacements.

sounds like a lotta bling bling.  I bet it runs great, and I hope it does everything you want it too.  I discourage laptops like these (see previous post) but at the same time if you gave me laptop like that, I would take it and run-smilling the whole time.

no worries mate... Like I said, if someone was buying one for me, I would take it.  But, I am a bit to "tight" when it comes to fancy bling bling.   And just so there isn't any confusion, I would love to have your laptop if you decide you dont want it anymore.

oh btw Office Depot sells dell ink, hehe might want to check to see if they have your models ink.  God I love remanufactured ink with altered ink casing tops.
